Allie Altschuler is a Los Angeles based painter, writer, and occasional performer.
She was born in Pasadena, California and attended the University of Southern California because those are the rules. She graduated with a BA in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing, primarily poetry, and a minor in Painting.
Altschuler concentrates on creating humor-tinged narrative portraiture as a way to loosely bridge her two main artistic interests. Each portrait lives in a moment indicative of a specific story as opposed to attempting to make a broad generalization about the subject. It is her goal to bring a sharp sense of humor to academic, semi-traditional painting.
The narrative humor effort carries on outside of painting in Altschuler’s stories and essays based on personal, sociological, and anthropological observations.
